Disclosure
Professional-use disclosure
Use the numbers as a starting point. Field conditions, codes, and tariffs always win over a web page.
Screening outputs, not approvals
Calculator results, reference values, guides, and Workspace reports are provided for informational screening. They are not engineering advice, not a code compliance determination, not a utility bill, not a contractor quote, and not a promise of savings or performance.
Code and authority having jurisdiction come first
Where this site discusses sizing, protection, or installation practice, the National Electrical Code as adopted and amended locally, the authority having jurisdiction, and the equipment manufacturer instructions always govern. If a calculator result and a code rule disagree, the code rule wins. Electrical installation and service work should be performed or supervised by qualified, licensed persons in accordance with local law.
Rates and tariffs must be verified
- Confirm the current tariff sheet: energy rates, tier thresholds, time-of-use windows, fixed customer charges, demand charges, ratchet clauses, and riders.
- Confirm metered history: twelve months of kWh and, for commercial sites, interval demand data.
- Confirm equipment facts: nameplate ratings, efficiency ratings, shading and orientation for solar, and charger specifications for EVs.
No conflicts, no paid placement
Calculator defaults and guide examples are editorial choices, not endorsements. The site does not accept payment to favor equipment, installers, lenders, or rate plans in its tools or content. If that ever changes for a specific page, the relationship will be stated on that page.
